Reading The Noosphere

Exegesis/Seminar/Discussion/Meditation/Composition Collective

FirstManifestion - January 30 ( add recollections of collective Days Inn dreamtime here)

SecondManifestation - As Above, So Below :)

Shall we collectively grok the Noosphere? The Noosphere, a concept first coined by Vernadksy, names the feedback effect of awareness on living systems. Vernadksy's definition was essentially a functional one - the noosphere is the collective effect of human attention on the Biosphere, which in turn transformed the lithosphere through the collective processes of living systems. Given what we now know about plant, fungal and bacterial intelligence, it now seems necessary to expand Vernadksy's definition to include all organisms and groups of organisms capable of actively increasing their dissipation of exergy (available energy) through the transfer and expression of nformation. Every layer of this system appears to be thermodynamically informed, so we will use concepts from thermodynamics to orient our investigation of this emergent attribute of our planet. Every two weeks we will contextualize Vernadksy's concept by looking to the history of philosophy, sacred and scientific texts of diverse sorts in order to experiment with our collective attention on the concept of collective attention. Recursively we will explore, together, the ecological, psychological and spiritual effects of this

re-mapping of ecological and individuated mind.

How about the Atrium outside of MadMex, inside the Days' Inn for next week? --Echan

This could ba a cool spot for awhile. I like the idea of using a space that is right inside a private space ( a hotel) yet is public ( a hotel). Re-working our sense of topology, of inside/outside, is part of the teaching, so let us begin there! A nomadism is also useful when navigaitng the Noosphere, lest we become attached to any particular tuning of something so essentially multiple. So be prepared for Elsewhere as well! At some point I would like to screen some of the Pear project - Ideas for a space are welcomed. -mobius
