This post is about Call Me Ishamel's January 26 post.

I'm unsure about exactly what Ishamel's idea is. I'm under the impression that his idea is to create a wiki-like site in which current high-school students can comment on curriculum as well as carry discussions about their coursework in all their classes (or just english and literature type classes?). I also get the idea that students will have the opportunity to create the curriculum with their instructors. I would like to comment farther on this idea, but Ishamel isn't set to present to the class until Thursday and I would like to read a more exact description of what Search The Stacks is before I make false critiques. Mobius, can you help here? Or I could wait till Thursday.

I think a neat idea for RFID chips would be to throw one into a black hole and see what happens. It would have to be a super-duper signal having RFID chip but maybe it'd show up somewhere crazy.

A more realistic idea for an RFID chip would be to place them in all automatic weapons, like machine guns, and other dangerous weapons like rocket launchers. This way the government could at least keep track of it's own supplies. I'm not sure I'd be for RFID chips in more consumer guns like hunting rifles and handguns, though. I dont want the gov knowing my piece is hot yo!

I'm working on a project for sharing information, though my project is based in the material world and not the world of the wiki. There is a club on campus called Asylum that hosts bands to play on campus a few times per semester. I want to set up a free literature table to share info that people may want to take while they are enjoying the show. I'm currently searching for organizations that would send me free literature to give out. Political organizations are good, special interest groups too. Any interesting ideas? Edit this page and put suggestions below \/\/\/\/

Why do you want to hand out literature? Aren't you afraid students are just going to throw it away and not read it? This is an honest question, not an insult or an argument. It seems to me like it's just a waste of paper to hand out literature, no matter how cool the organization, because nobody's going to read it. ~Echan

I agree that if I was handing out lit to everyone who walks in the door that people would throw it on the floor within the next five steps. But what I'm going to do is set up a table and anyone who sees anything they might want to read can take what they want, this way I'm not forcing things on people. I think it's a good way for the interested to pick up some new ideas.

I've been to many shows in the past where people have set up similar lit tables and while most people dont pay any mind, some people pick up things and do read what they take. Sometimes kids even talk about the things they take between bands while having a smoke or catching some air.

I appreciate your criticism. But please tell me, if you were taking something from a lit table, what would you want to read? This question is for Echan as well as anyone else who has an idea.

I'd take it, if it seemed worthwhile. I suppose the question was, what's worthwhile to me. Well, coupons, of course, being a poor college student. Other concerts of a similar nature, health info (smoking, diet, whatever), clubs (with very very clever flyers...a la Problem Child 2004), etc. ~ Ceridwen

About the digital proposal by Dr. Professor Mobius Esquire the Great...

I like the idea, though it may take some time to adjust a whole curriculum to using a wiki.

Let the chaos of the wiki control us all.
